Maths

Hey guys,
For today I will be showing my maths working out skills. This is when Mr M gives us a problem to work out in  our books. At the end he goes over it with the group. We are working on how to actually solve the problem- what process or strategy to use. I am proud of this of this because I enjoy doing maths even if it is not one of my favorite topics. I am sharing this with you because I am proud of it.

Here is a photo of my working out.

Van Gogh Maths

This is my maths that I have done.
WALT display and interpret data

I did this because it  was a tricky task to do and I did it with a buddy.
I am proud of this because It was challenging and  took a long time get done.
Miro to buddy up with a Van Gogh student.

These numbers show how many minutes it took each student to run the school cross-country.

53   50   52   38   30

37   36   55   35   40

41   52   36   37   49

50   57   37   59   36

a)

Of the students that ran the cross-country, what was
i)  the fastest time? 30 minutes
ii)  the slowest time? 59 minutes
iii) the average time? 41 minutes

All             Most              Some           None

b)

Choose one word from the box above to complete each sentence about the cross-country.

i)   None of the students took more than an hour to run the race.
ii)  Most of the students took between 35 and 55 minutes to run the race.
iii) Some of the students took less than 40 minutes to run the race.

c) Create a stem and leaf graph to display the data.

d) Work out the mean, median and mode for the data. Ask if you are both not sure what this is.

Median- 40.5
Mode- 36,37 (most)
Mean- 44
20x 44=880

Tokyo Maths

Hi I am blogging this because I am proud of my maths. It is awesome to do.
We were learning to add by making a tidy number.
Tokyo
WALT split up our numbers to add them (PV partitioning)

Solve these problems- show how you worked it out.
The high lighter ones are in the answer
  1. 145+642= 787
100 + 600=700
40 +40 =80
5+2=7

2. 632+145=777
600+100=700
30+40=70
2+5=7

3. 362+417=779
300+400=700
60+10=70
2+7=9

My Maths

I have been working on my maths I figured out that I had to add on the number to make a 10 like I had 29 dollars and I had to make a 10 how many did I have to add on 1 so that is your answer.
I was making tens so they were easier to add.
